All the seams were sealed, and the bottom of the car was sprayed with a black industrial satin black paint.

Next, the wheel tubs were coated with Herculiner truck bed liner to protect against rock chips.

Finally, the remaining underside surfaces were coated with 3M Body Schutz to protect against chips and to add some sound dampening to the body shell.

Now that the chassis was restored, it was time to put the body back on the frame.

A new set of body bushings from OPGI was used to properly mount the body on the frame. The crew then hoisted the body and rolled the chassis under, and bolted the two together.

The 350 cubic inch Chevrolet small-block V-8 was partially disassembled, and stripped clean of old paint and grease. We checked the bearings compression and everything looked good, so we elected to reuse the short block. After a thorough cleaning, the engine was painted in Poppy Red, which is the code name for Chevrolet Orange.

There are many parts that will be painted a satin black, so the front inner fender wells, bumper brackets, glove box, and other small parts were loaded into the paint booth and blacked out.

Next, the Chevelle’s doors and rear deck lid were installed and lined up in preparation for the driver side quarter panel replacement. Fitting these pieces now provides reference points while the quarter panel is installed.

The original quarter panel fit pretty well, but it was all bashed up on the body line.
