Finish Line Performance (www.FLP2WIN.com) has teamed up with Nickey Chicago to continue the performance legend of the Nickey Muscle Cars. This Nickey Stage 3 car features a twin turbocharged LS3 engine making 600 horsepower and 600 foot-pounds of torque at the wheels, all while keeping great drivability and road manners. However, this car is soon to be upgraded to a 1300 horsepower 427, an option on the Stage 3 cars!
We've come to the end of the road on our 2800 mile 2010 Spring Road Trip, but did everything (and everyone) survive? Check out all the videos from the trip at the link below. We've also added a new contest - Guess our 1962 Galaxie's MPG on the trip - to win some more V8TV shwag.
We made it to LA, and we've been spending some time hagning out on the beach in Hermosa Beach. It's a great little beach community that has plenty to do.. or nothing at all. Here's some scenes from the sands! Next stop - Vegas!
One of the best things about the south western USA for car enthusiasts
is the weather... it's always sunny, warm, and dry, so the cars never
rust. At least not like they do where the snow - and the salt -
flies. Today, we ventured out to Desert Valley Auto Parts
in Phoenix to walk around the yard and check out the sights. We're
getting some parts for our 1959 Biscayne "Post Modern" project from
DVAP, and it was cool to see what else was in the yard. These guys
ship their parts all over the world.. in fact, there was a container
being loaded for the Netherlands out in front. They let you walk
around and tour the place on your own, so bring a lunch, some bottled
water, and sun screen... oh yeah, and your wallet!
Follow along as we embark on the 2010 V8TV Spring Road Trip in our '62 Ford Galaxie! We're going to be crusing from Scottsdale, AZ to Southern California, then up through Vegas and through some national parks in Utah, then over the Rocky Mountains before heading back to the midwest to V8TV land. You're welcome to join us on the road and in our forum, we'll be posting new videos, pictures, music, contests, and other nonsense from the road each day.
Some thoughts on the recent video showing the impact of a 1959 Chevrolet Bel Air vs. a 2009 Chevy Malibu. After getting into our 1959 Biscayne project, the outcome seems more believable! Safety has come a long way.
Is the climate windy and wet in your muslce car? While preparing our 1962 Galaxie 500 XL ragtop for a recent road trip, we noticed just how bad the car rattled. It turns out that all the window "fuzzies" were dried out, allowing the window glass to rattle in its tracks. All the car's window and door weatherstrip was deteriorated, too. This tech feature shows how to replace these items with new parts from Dearborn Classics.
We reassembled our restored front suspension with some new tricks to make our 1969 Pontiac Firebird "Routy" drive and handle better. First we replaced all the stock worn-out control arm bushings with some new Global West Del-A-Lum bushings for minimal deflection and smooth articulation. Then we replaced all the loose steering components with new parts from Classic Industries , including a new steering box, tie rod ends, center link, ball joints, idler arm, and pittman arm. Once we could put the wheels back on, we rolled the subframe under the body, aligned it, and bolted it up. Out back, we added some Del-A-Lum bushings to the Detroit Speed & Engineering 3" drop leaf springs and put the rear axle assembly back in the car. Classic Industries had more hard-to-find nuts and clips for the front leaf spring mounts. Now we can hang all the sheetmetal back on the car and start the panel alignment!
Our 1965 Chevelle project arrived in our shop with a front disc conversion, but we wanted the fade-free stopping power of 4-wheel disc brakes, so we added a rear disc brake kit from OPGI. This kit utilizes late-model GM calipers with integrated emergency brakes for a simple install, and it also comes with the matching combination valve and pre-bent hardlines and hoses.
