This is my 1963 F100 project truck. The truck has been seating on a fram since 1982. It has a 223 w/T98 and I think the rear gear is 2.79. The original trans was a three on the tree. Here are some photos... before I start the tear down.

Plan to take it down to the frame and build a nice weekend driver. There are a lot of rusty holes in the floor and floor braces (see photo). The rust is going to be big part in fixing this one!

I’m thinking about a (2) 1-barrel manifold, some wheel tubs inside the bed might happen and power disc brakes. An much more the longer I work on it!

I found someone has already done some bad work on the trucks frame. There is a crack in the frame half between the rear leaf springs. Some had suck coil spring between the frame and leaf spring. I’m guessing they need to haul more then the leaf could hold therefore cracking the frame. I don’t know if it crack all the way. There is a think 5/16” plate on top, bottom and the inside. I will remove this plate once the rear-end is out. Other than that the frame is nice and square!

Looks like a good start!    What are your plans to repair the frame?

I don’t like the think steel plate on top and bottom. My thought was to remove the inner and out plates of 5/16” and put back a fish plate on the inside only (see render). I would like some other ideas on this if any has done this before.

You'll find Lou Santiago building an F1 in the "trucks" section of this forum.. his has a complete new rear frame section, but you may be able to grab some ideas from him!    How's yours coming?

My original idea don’t work as planned. The frame was too small to weld around the fish plate. So I went to plan “B”… boxing the frame in. I plan to do this to the other side.

That looks to be a much more solid repair...

Update... I have finished patching both side of the frame and painted it with Eastwoods rust encapsulator and a top coat of their chassis black. Also replaced seals in the rear-end and painted it the same. Now I’m working on some 1-1/2” lifting blocks. Take a look….

Rear axle is done and under the truck. The original shocks (black) didn’t have enough travel in them, once I put the lift blocks in. So I used Pro Comp shocks ES1000.

Lookin' good!   It appears you're taking the time to make sure everything is done correctly, and it shows.
