Some Body/Paint Questions on a Muscle Car Restoration?

I'm planning on doing a resto-mod of a 1970 Dodge Charger, and have some questions. I plan to get the car, tear it down, strip it down to the bare, install a rollcage, prime the entire thing, have the framerails and interior painted and the undercarriage under-coated, before I install the interior, drivetrain, suspension. After that, final paint and re-installation of exterior pieces.
Here is my question.
Is professional-quality sandblasting okay for the exterior panels, or bad? Can I have the entire thing sandblasted, or should I only have the interior/underside/framerails blasted, and sand the rest myself?
Thanks

Sounds like a lot of work Threewitt
I would say its okay to sand blast heavy things like core supports, chassis, a arms, but don't use all sand on your exterior and body panels. Sand usually gets to hot, warpage is a big concern with any media used, and we recently discoverd the silica in sand stays in the metal and if you try to powdercoat a piece after it has been sandblasted, the silica comes out and messes up the powdercoating process.
Your best bet it to have a professional media blaster handle the blasting process for you.
There are all sorts of media they can use, depending on if you are removing factory paint, loads of paint and bondo or major rust.
We tend to stay away from dipping a car, we hear horror stories about people who have their cars dipped and not much of the car comes out of the tank. Also I've heard baking soda stays in the cracks and speeds up the rusting process so what ever method you choose, make sure to blow the car out throuroughly after the blasting process, vacuum it many times and maybe even use old paint brushes to get the media out of all the seams.
Good luck with your build, let us know how it goes.
