Hey Kevin great show. I am doing rear quarters on my 68 GTO. On the inside there is a inner support that was sealed I think it was with seam sealer that was stuck to the inside of the mid quarter that was then supported to the inner sail panel. the queation I have is what is used to stick it to the inner quarter and/or when do you put the sealer on and stick it togehter? At final attachment or do you reach after and then stick it to the support. Please help me out I am trying to debate it in my head and I would like to do it correctly. Thank you.

Hey Michael,
I'm curious about this support you mention. I believe that no supports should be merely held in place with seam sealer... perhaps the seam sealer occupied the space between this brace and the quarter, but it's welded at the ends? Could you possibly post a picture?

You are correct Kevin. it is welded to the inner sail panel near the wheel well and comes out to the inner rear quarter. The seam sealer was between the quarter an the brace. I will try to take a picture tonight.

I know what you're talking about. It's almost like a thick rubbery foam jammed in there, much like you see under a hood between the brace and the hood skin, right?

I'll chat with our resto tech and see. I'm going to suggest using a 3M Automix seam sealer on a gun to shoot some in after panel installation. You wouldn't want to take the panel down again after you glue it up in there. I would also be cautious of anything that expands. I don't know if you have room to get the nozzle in there, though. I'll post some thoughts later tonight.

OK, I spoke with Randy about this one. We agree you need to reinstall this stuff back in the car. We're suggesting doing it after the quarter is welded. This would reduce the possibility of welding fires and keep the sealer / foam from pushing out on the panel and changing the alignment. You may check the 3M website for an applicator for the sealer that has a long tube or hose to reach the area you're trying to glue up. I'd still like to see the pics, though.

No problem. Do you have the pic hosted somewhere like flikr or something that you can just add the link to the pic in the page? Just type around your pic's web location.

I had to shrink this down to get it to you. The e-mail box was to small the original size was 925 kb. What if I e-mail something to your e-amil adrees that I sent the first one too and then you can post it. Do you know the name of the product?
