Does anyone know how big of a wheel you can get on a 67 Corvette? We want to put 17s on this project...

Hi Graham!! Long time no talk. Yep i still have the 65 Impala, but the engine got stolen.

So you want to know about vette wheels. You can stuff 17's under a 67 vette. You will be safe with a 17x8 with a 4"offset (stock off set).  You can go wider, but your going to have to push the wheels outwards with a diffrent offset. But i'm sure you want to keep them tucked in the fender wells. With 8"+ wide wheels, watch out for the E-brake bracket on the trailing arm. If this gets into the way, cut it off and re-weld it to the top of the trailing arm. This is a better spot to put this in anyway. The second thing to remember is, the vette calipers. Not all wheels will fit because they will rub the caliper. If the wheels you get rub, you will need a 1/4 spacer, or  order wheels that will fit a vette properly. On my vette i have centerline style wheels and they did fine. Turbines ,Torque thrust wheels work well. I took 2 of my Weld pro-star wheels off my impala to see if they would fit the vette ,but they rubbed the caliper. If you get a set of wheels and they have a very light rub, try grinding down the caliper casting numbers/letters. Sometime this is the only thing that will rub.

If you want wider wheels, then buy a set of off-set trailing arms. This will allow the use of wider rims and keep them tucked under the vette. Plus you can run a wider tire like a 295 or 305.
I hope this helps you some. If you need more help or info, let me know. I finished building my 77 vette and doing another for a guy here in town and he has a 67 also.
Take care.
