1963 Chevy with Curb Appeal

Flamed paint jobs are a signature of hot rodding, and Frank Betts’ 1963 Chevrolet Bel Air is a great example of a flame job done right.   You've heard the saying... wheels, bags, done! In Frank Betts' case, he needed a third element to make his '63 Chevy Bel Air stand out. Fire. Betts started with a ’63 Chevy post coupe and added air bags and Wheels and Tires for a wicked stance. The base color is a dark purple. The next stop was The Custom Shop in Flanagan, IL., where John Wargo sprayed a whole mess of intertwining modern flames over the nose, under hood, and down the sides of the car. Wargo then airbrushed the trim on the sides, and intertwined the flames to wrap around the trim. Betts says it looks like real stainless trim from 6 feet away.

The Y-Gen 3rd-Gen Trans Am
16 year old kids are in a tough spot these days. We're not talking about the pressures of daily life and all that B.S.; we're refering to the fact that the kids who are into cool cars usually don't have the cash or the ability to get their mitts on a cool ride. Add to that un-sympathetic parents, and you've got millions of high schoolers rollin' beat up civics or other cheap junk. Dale Schwartz has a leg up, however, with his new project they're calling the Y-Gen 3rd-Gen. It's a Trans Am that's a full 7 years older than Dale, but he was able to build a car he wanted the way he wanted.

The Bandit Lives!

Thirty years ago, a relatively low-budget movie starring an ex-Florida State football player, a country singer, a comedic legend and a black-and-gold Trans Am swept the country. Smokey & The Bandit played a huge role in a number of areas, not the least of which were catapulting Burt Reynolds to stardom and resulting in record-breaking sales for Pontiac's Trans Am.

Driving Review: 2007 Shelby GT500

Yeah, it’s bad. The amazing part is that we drove this car for a whole week without going to jail!

Ford calls the 2007 Shelby GT500 the most powerful factory mustang ever built. And they’re right. The supercharged 5.4 liter V8 starts off as a Triton iron truck block, then the Ford engineers add a specially-machined set of 4-valve aluminum GT Supercar heads, a special cam, and a roots-type supercharger for a grand total of 500 horsepower. And it's a usable 500hp, with 480 foot-pounds of torque seemingly whenever you want it. Pick a gear, mat the throttle, and hang on.
