- “Dr. Dan” Lameroux of Thornton, IL was crowned the winner of
the Royal Purple Reel Wars Video Contest Friday, June 17. Lameroux’s
video entitled “Purple Bot” was a finalist when it placed in the
top five of the 43 videos that were submitted based on online voting.
Finalist videos were then viewed by five celebrity judges who
included: Courtney Hansen host of PowerblockTV, V8TV’s Kevin Oeste,
Paul Schiefer (Magnaflow Marketing Director), custom car builders Jim
and Mike Ring and Media-Motion producer Lynn Parsons.
Purple
Bot introduced in the video by Dr. Dan, has the capability to sense
what kind of Royal Purple product is needed for each application and
is then dispensed from his robot body. "All of the Top Five
videos were entertaining, but Purple Bot was my favorite because it
was a simple and memorable concept executed well. A key point
is that this video clearly demonstrated several specific uses of
Royal Purple products. The acting was good and production
quality just right. Great job Dan," said Paul Schiefer.
Inspired by classic car movies like the orignal GONE in 60 SECONDS,
TWO LANE BLACKTOP, GRAND PRIX, BULLITT and LeMANS- Actor/ racer turned
independent filmmaker Jay Rowlands wanted to bring gearheads more of
what they really want to see in the movies- real cars, real drivers and
real action.
With a film budget of $5.3 Million and two grand in his pocket, Jay
began working on the project around the clock 6 to 7 days a week for
eight years straight. CLUTCH is a full feature length dramatic action
film (16mm color) telling the story of a struggling small town racer who
finds out there are no short cuts to victory lane. Race driver Travis
Brewster risks his life, friends and freedom when he takes a wrong turn
in his attempts to support his racing. CLUTCH is a full throttle effort
to tell a story about the truth and integrity of basic humanity while
combining the elements of action, romance, comedy and human emotion.
Filmed entirely in the Pacific Northwest and packed with the most
popular musclecars ever, CLUTCH, has been produced independently;
outside the “Hollywood” system. CLUTCH is the creation of Jay Rowlands
and people who share his passion for fast cars and making movies.
