We just posted a giant (2000 photo) gallery chronicling the complete build of the Royal Sport Camaro we built for Royal Purple a couple years ago. This was a real Camaro that got completely re-bodied, save for the windshield frame and the rear inner quarter supports. It was a project we are proud to have completed, but probably will not do again! Anyway, it featured a Schwartz Chassis, Baer brakes, YearOne body panels, resto parts, and 430hp crate SBC, Tremec TKO 500, Bonspeed wheels, Hooker exhaust, MSD ignition, Holley fuel system, Vintage Air, Royal Purple fluids... you get the idea. The whole car build is in video on our site, but this is the first time the photos have been available. (Videos: www.v8tvshow.com/RoyalSportCamaro ) The gallery begins with snaps of Ben Hermance doing the design work and ends at the YearOne Experience. Enjoy!

Find a car and tear it apart. Just another day here at V8TV! This is our latest project here on V8TV, a 1969 Chevy Camaro convertible that we’re building in conjunction with Royal Purple Synthetic Oil . Royal Purple came to us and asked if we’d be interested in working with them on a project car, and we jumped at the chance.

We completely diasassembled the Royal Sport Camaro, and now it was time to remove all the rust, scale, paint, crust, and old body filler. This was not a job we wanted to do by hand, so we left the dirty work to Imperial Blasting Technologies ! These guys completely stripped all the old paint, rust, and bodywork crust to reveal the ugly truth about our Camaro's body.
This is a 2 part video, so be sure to watch the 2nd half after the break!

We've been drilling lots of holes in this Camaro. There are many parts we plan to replace, and a few we're going to have to fix. By drilling out the factory spot welds, we're able to stay away from patching in small pieces and our end result will be a clean, complete body without a jigsaw puzzle under the carpet.

The bodywork and fabrication continues on the Royal Sport Camaro, the 1969 Camaro Convertible we're building with Royal Purple Synthetic Oil and eBay Motors . We're building the car from the floor up, and we've made it all the way to the... floor.

You have to go through some ugly to get to pretty... and we're gettin' UGLY! We’ve been working on the Royal Sport Camaro project, a ’69 Camaro we’re building with Royal Purple Synthetic Oil here on V8TV. The last time we showed you the car, it had just gotten out of the media Blaster and we had to make some decisions about how we were going to attack this project

We’re making progress on the Royal Sport Camaro, this time we went to Schwartz Extreme Performance in Crystal Lake, IL to test assemble the very first Schwartz Precision Chassis designed for a first generation F Body car - Camaro and Firebird. Assembling the chassis on our 1969 Camaro project for the first time.

The Royal Sport Camaro is changing colors - we tested several PPG hues to find the right color. The Royal Sport 1969 Camaro project is owned by Royal Purple Synthetic Oil , so naturally our initial design called for some sort of purple paint scheme. However, after mulling it over, the thought of painting the car purple has been replaced with a silver scheme.

You spend alot of time staring at your dash panel and gauges, so we set out to build a killer dash for the Royal Sport Camaro with the help of Detroit Speed and Stewart Warner Performance .

Re-bodying a 1969 Camaro is no easy task, and this time, we're replacing and installing a whole bunch of panels that most people never even see!

The Royal Sport is a 1969 Camaro Convertible owned by Royal Purple Synthetic Oil , and it’s a machine intended to hold the road on the drag strip and on the road course. Rather than use the stock-style suspension, we’ve opted for a complete chassis under the car. We called on Jeff Schwartz for the chassis. In this installment, we are test assembling the rear suspension components on the Royal Sport 1969 Camaro to make sure they all fit and work right before we disassemble the whole works for paint and for powder coating.

A high performance car really isn’t high performance unless it has stopping power to match its acceleration abilities, and we turned to Baer for the performance brakes on the Royal Sport Camaro project.

There are many steps to reconstructing an entire car. So far, we've built the foundation - welded up the floors, set the cowl, and test-fitted the quarter panels on the Royal Sport 1969 Camaro project. Although the structure was beginning to take shape, we have a long way to go.
At the same time, we have some fabrication work to do on the Schwartz Precision Chassis. The chassis we slipped under the Camaro was the first of its kind, requiring more attention than the actual production versions.

The first video blog on the Royal Sport Camaro project. These blogs began 23 days before the SEMA show in 2006, and we had to have the car at the show. This blog begins the journey of what happens after-hours when a crew is going crazy trying to finish a car in less than a month.
