Roger Poirier's 1969 Pontiac GTO is a car that has lived in Roger's family for a long time... several decades, in fact.     Today, this super-clean GTO is sporting a fresh restoration and Pro-Touring conversion with upgraded suspension parts, a hot Pontiac V8, and amazing black paint.    The interior is red, the wheels are chrome, it all adds up to a car that lacks nothing in execution or style.

When it's time for a change, you have to make a decision.   John Wargo picked up this 1968 Pontiac Firebird because it was a clean car, but he wasn’t a big fan of the Pro Street suspension and style of the car. After studying the large wheel tubs, Wargo had an idea. Follow along as Pro Street turns Pro Touring at The Custom Shop.

Arnie Beswick's D/Stock Judge PDF Print E-mail

We recently came across legendary drag racer Arnie “The Farmer” Beswick’s 1969 D/Stock Pontiac GTO Judge. Back in 1969, Pontiac let out a few hand-tweaked Ram Air IV 400 cubic inch GTOs to a few lucky drag racers. These engines were rumored to far surpass the stock 370 horsepower rating, and the story has it that Pontiac wanted these Ram Air IV Judges to be raced in stock-class races across the country. Beswick’s car is truly a stripper model, with no options or sound deadener to keep it light. Even the seam sealer was left off this car to keep the weight to a minimum.

In the early 1960's, a full size car really was full size!  Gas prices were not really a concern and bigger was better, so the automakers stocked their showrooms big road-going machines. Pontiac offered several versions of their large platform to accomodate the bank accounts of a variety of budgets. This one is a Catalina, which was marketed as an entry-level full size Pontiac.

16 year old kids are in a tough spot these days. We're not talking about the pressures of daily life and all that B.S.; we're refering to the fact that the kids who are into cool cars usually don't have the cash or the ability to get their mitts on a cool ride. Add to that un-sympathetic parents, and you've got millions of high schoolers rollin' beat up civics or other cheap junk. Dale Schwartz has a leg up, however, with his new project they're calling the Y-Gen 3rd-Gen. It's a Trans Am that's a full 7 years older than Dale, but he was able to build a car he wanted the way he wanted.

Thirty years ago, a relatively low-budget movie starring an ex-Florida State football player, a country singer, a comedic legend and a black-and-gold Trans Am swept the country. Smokey & The Bandit played a huge role in a number of areas, not the least of which were catapulting Burt Reynolds to stardom and resulting in record-breaking sales for Pontiac's Trans Am.
