Kelle's '54 Chevy Truck Blog #8: Cab Corners
Read more...Kelle's truck is in the home stretch, and this time Randy worked on replacing the rusty cab corners.    The first attempt was to use some scrap steel to make some new corners, but the crew soon realized it would be easier - and much cheaper - to flip open the Classic Parts catalog and buy a new set.   Here's how that install went.

Kelle's 1954 Truck Blog #7: 12V Alternator
Read more...We're in the midst of a 12-volt conversion upgrade on the '54 and installing a GM 10SI style alternator.    You have to either change all the electrical devices - bulbs, battery, etc., to 12 volts, or install some sort of step-up converter to make them work right.     Here, Kevin rambles about the 1 vs. 3 wire alternator styles.

Kelle's '54 Chevy Truck Blog #6: Ignition
Read more...This time, we're upgrading Kelle's old ignition system with a swap-meet find, a vintage MSD box, which we're going to use to power the coil, rather than the power running through the ignition points.    It also helps the coil by storing energy and relasing it as quickly as the coil needs the juice.  However, when you find an old electronics part, how do you know it works?    We show you how to test an MSD box with their Digital Ignition Tester to see what's up.    Then, Kelle's 235 6-banger will enjoy the multiple spark benefits of the MSD, but it still looks old-school, 'cause it is.
