June 17, 2011 (Porter, TX) - “Dr. Dan” Lameroux of Thornton, IL was crowned the winner of the Royal Purple Reel Wars Video Contest Friday, June 17. Lameroux’s video entitled “Purple Bot” was a finalist when it placed in the top five of the 43 videos that were submitted based on online voting. Finalist videos were then viewed by five celebrity judges who included: Courtney Hansen host of PowerblockTV, V8TV’s Kevin Oeste, Paul Schiefer (Magnaflow Marketing Director), custom car builders Jim and Mike Ring and Media-Motion producer Lynn Parsons.

Purple Bot introduced in the video by Dr. Dan, has the capability to sense what kind of Royal Purple product is needed for each application and is then dispensed from his robot body. "All of the Top Five videos were entertaining, but Purple Bot was my favorite because it was a simple and memorable concept executed well.  A key point is that this video clearly demonstrated several specific uses of Royal Purple products.  The acting was good and production quality just right.  Great job Dan," said Paul Schiefer.

Lameroux said making the video took a week. The biggest task was finding just the right parts for the Purple Bot. “I probably went to eight different stores before I found the perfect plastic garbage can for his body,” he said. He also drove two hours to Indiana to get one shot of the Purple Bot and the boat.

Lameroux will receive his check from Reel Wars Contest judge and V8TV host Kevin Oeste. When asked how he plans to spend his $5000 grand prize, Lameroux said, “I’m going to blow the money on a bunch of trivial stuff like gas, food, groceries, new brakes for my car and student loan payments. And because I need all the good karma I can get, I’ll also donate a percentage of the winnings to charity.”

Earning special mention from the judges were Everybody Loves Royal Purple by Helen Arnold of Houston, Texas

and Purple Morning by Vince Roy of Ontario, Canada
