After taking delivery of our not-so-shiny 1968 Buick Riviera, we decided to take a lap with a camera and see what we could see. It looks pretty decent for a starting point, it's not really rusty, has solid body panels, good door gaps, and solid floors.
However, the mighty 430 Buick V8 has seen better days. Dig the crusty carburator. The good part is all the original parts are under the hood, indicating that this car has never been tinkered with. But that could also mean it wasn't maintained, either. It seems to run, but it's got a miss - we're betting a stuck or burned valve, but it also seems the timing chain is either really stretched out or has jumped a tooth or two. It doesn't run very well. Should we decide to run this engine, we'll go thorugh a complete rebuild, but we may end up powering this sled with something else. Stay tuned.
