Most of us do not trust our project cars in the hands of a repair shop, much less in a truck barreling across the country, but the pros at Intercity Lines put us at ease every time.
Transporting your favorite car can be scary. You have to trust your pride and joy to an individual and their equipment, and hope they arrive in the right place at the right time and in the same shape they were when they left. We've learned over the years that you have to work with professionals if you want the job done right, and that's why the V8TV cars all ride on Intercity Lines trucks when they need to be delivered. But before we get into the benefits of any one particular company, it's important to point out that a happy transport adventure starts long before the trip. REASONS TO TRANSPORT A VEHICLE We all love to drive our rides, but what if you're moving across country and you have a project (or two) in addition to the daily driver? It's a safer deal to have your ride professionally hauled than to have a buddy or relative drive it for you. Or more likely, you'll want to have cousin Eddie drive your daily driver and you'll drive the project car. Resist the urge... if you're relocating, you're already in a stressful situation with deadlines and expenses. You don't need to be on the side of the road with problems when you're stuff is all waiting for you at the new digs. Ship the car.
Or you may be all jazzed up about a driving event somewhere, but you can't manage the time off to drive to the event, do the event, and drive all the way home. This is a perfect opportunity to have the car dropped off by a pro transporter. This way, you fly in, meet the driver and get your car, have fun with it, and send it home. Easy. Intercity Lines offers a full range of services to facilitate car shows, auctions, and driving events like these to make it easy. Or how about our favorite email... "You Won Item # XXXXXXX, a 19XX XXXX XXXX!" Now come get it, it's 12 states away!" Winning cars on eBay is alot less stressful when you can have the car transported home instead of worrying if it will make the drive. It's unfamiliar territory, which is one of the most primal of human fears. THINGS TO CONSIDER Auto transport companies are not taxi cabs. It's unrealistic to think you can call a transporter at 10 AM for a 10:30 AM pickup to have your car hauled across country. This may seem obvious, but thanks to our "need it now" society, some people incorrectly estimate the timeline to be shorter than it is. In fact, it's more realistic to give the transporter a couple weeks of lead time before you need your car shipped. Arrange for transport as far in advance as possible. This way, the transport company can work the logistics to be in your area on their way from somewhere to somewhere else without making a special (and costly!) trip. They don't want to come to your house with an empty truck unless you have enough cars to fill it, so allowing a little extra time will let them load up with cars along the way that are all going the same direction. It's a money saver for everyone. It's also important to be realistic on your time estimates for when the car needs to arrive. Often times, we think that it may only take 4-5 days to drive from one part of the country to another. While this may be true, your transporter may have to make several stops along the way to deliver the other cars on the rig. This may also mean that your car isn't going to take the straightest route from point A to B. So when the transporter says it's going to take 10 days to go from New York to LA, now you know why. WHY WE LIKE INTERCITY LINES We've had experience with several transport companies, and they all have their benefits, but Intercity has the most. First off, their equipment is top-notch. Every truck ranges from new to a couple years old, and they're all striped and painted to match. The trailers are all state-of-the-art units with flip-down elevator tailgates with remote controls for smooth, safe loading and unloading. The upper level has a full-length drip pan, so your baby won't be dribbled on from the car above it. And each car is wrapped in protective plastic sheeting during the drive.
The operators at Intercity Lines are all car enthusiasts who appreciate the variety of cars they haul. And being an official transporter for highbrow events like the Barret-Jackson auction, they routinely haul zillion-dollar, ultra-rare vehicles, so they know how to handle them with care. More importantly, they know how to handle the nervous and expectant owners with care, too. Most of us can be pretty edgy and difficult when handing the keys of our one-and-only to a stranger, but the Intercity team are always courteous and completely professional in their appearance, mannerisms, and service. They put us at ease, and we've never had an issue.
But even if something isn't to your liking, you'll appreciate the professionalism of the Intercity Lines operation even more. They carry enough insurance to handle anything, and they're quick to resolve issues that may arise. They have a reputation of keeping their customers for a long time, and you only win repeat business by being good at what you do. Other perks like free quotes and a concierge-type service add to the experience. If you're planning to attend a race, they guarantee that your car will be picked up on time, delivered to the track on time, and picked up when the race is over. As an added service, they can arrange for your racecar to be stored overnight in their enclosed auto transporter. The driver stays with his vehicle and remains on site during the event, so security is assured. You can learn more about Intercity at their website, www.intercitylines.com. SOURCES INTERCITY LINES
