V8TV ventures to Flanagan, Illinois, to The Custom Shop to feature this supercharged, custom mixed orange 57 Chevy. Where’s Flanagan? We didn’t know either, but this just might be the car
that puts it on the map. Powered by a Vortech supercharged 350 Chevy,
this shoebox runs as strong as it looks. Subtle body mods are everywhere
so you really have to spend some time with this car to appreciate it.
John Wargo removed the side stainless trim and replaced it with a custom airbrushed graphic that is hard to tell from stainless.
In certain light Art Himsl style ghost flames appear in the custom mixed Lamborghini orange paint.
All of the body seams have been smoothed so the car actually appears to be fiberglass but it is all steel.
The Custom Shop crew wrapped the body down to remove the pinch-weld seam at the rocker panels to smooth out the transition to the fully detailed chassis. This car is set up with a 4-link rear to be dragstrip ready; painter Wargo says if the owner Races the car, he'll slap him!
One of the more interesting elements is the full length center console that extends all the way into the trunk. The profile of the console matches the dip in the '57's body line perfectly.
Wargo and the crew at The Custom Shop painted the Vortech carburetor in a box supercharger to match the body and also airbrushed details on the cover.
