We recently ran across a trick street rod featuring traditional styling and upgraded components for a great-handling sled.

Built by Tony Nardi’s Rods and Customs and Ken’s Street Rods, the Boss features a chopped top, totally smoothed body, full air suspension and 17” and 18” inch Colorado Custom rollers. Other custom touches include LED taillights, custom exhaust exiting out the sides, and flush mounted headlights.

Custom two-tone colors give the Boss a distinctive look, but the most eye-catching feature of the body is the trick side trim… that’s actually CNC machined billet aluminum stock, and each section of the spear is one piece of aluminum. We’ve been told there’s a lot of change in that trim.

Powering the Boss 49 is a Ford 351 Windsor motor topped by a matching supercharger churning up over 500 horsepower, and the gears are changed by hand. Every detail under the hood has been color matched, including the custom formed airbox.

The suspension is comprised of Mustang II tubular control arms and Wilwood disc brakes at all 4 corners.

Inside you’ll find custom bucket seats stitched up in creamy leather, and a full custom dashboard load of Auto Meter gauges keep the driver informed. The luxo-rod interior is kept cool with a Vintage Air air conditioning system.

It appears the Boss is a crowd pleaser everywhere it cruises, as it’s already won the Goodguys’ Ford in a Ford award and the Boyd Pro’s Pick. The Boss 49 has taken a few years to create, but Owner Seth Wagner should agree it’s been well worth the wait.
