So what is it?  That's the big question surrounding Posie's new Aeroliner. He claims it started life as a 1935 Ford Roadster, but we've seen lots of those and this looks nothing like one.

The cool thing about the Aeroliner is that it's a long, lean, powerful combination of deco-trick and today-tech. Posie's crew hammered .080" aluminum sheets into the flowing body panels you see here, and the result is breathtaking. You expect Cruella DeVille and Batman to jump out at any time.

Posie worked with Colorado Custom to create the one-off wheels, which feature tires that look like they can handle a turn or two. The reality is that this car was built to drive, and the suspension system has been set up to hold the road. Posie's own Super Slide Springs hold the mass, and an I-beam suspension keeps things straight up front.

The long hood opens to reveal a nearly 550 horsepower Roush crate 427. Based on a Ford Windsor small block, the 427R aluminum motor has been dressed to look like it was part of a powerplant from the '30s. That's Posie's trickery in action... this is a well-disguised modern motor.

Posie claims that all his creations feature a "piece of controversy", and the hood statue is one of the elements of this car bound to spark discussions. Named Driven, the bronze sculpture leads the way where ever this stretched roadster goes. Posies Rods and Customs has a few copies of the piece for sale if you'd like to strap one to the hood of your ride.

We can't do the car justice here, but you can read all about it in Team Killeen's latest Build Book , which covers the entire construction of this dramatic rod from start to finish. You can get yours from Amazon.com. or www.Buildbookusa.com today. Learn more about the Aeroliner at Posies website.
